JOB TITLE:  Registered Nurse

LOCATION: Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre

DEPARTMENT: Post Anesthesia Care Unit Float

WORK SCHEDULE: Days/Evenings 12pm-8:30pm; flexible hours to support department needs. Potential rotation to GWV campus as needed; also potential weekend and

holiday rotation and/or call at GWV campus per department needs.

WORK TYPE: Full Time (1.0 FTE) - 80 Hours Bi-Weekly; 40W Overtime

 

JOB SUMMARY:

 

Assesses outpatient needs and plans, organizes, performs and evaluates nursing activities

to meet those needs. Meets the qualifications to provide care for patients in the specific age range of their assigned nursing unit.

 

Performs duties to provide the highest level of patient care and maximize patient

satisfaction in accordance with the goals and objectives of the Geisinger Health System.

 

COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:

Demonstrates strong organizational and interpersonal skills.

Demonstrates effective written and oral communication skills.

Demonstrates a high regard for confidentiality.

Demonstrates flexibility, tact and the ability to perform both independently and as a team member.

 

 EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

 

For Registered Nurses with less than five (5) years work experience as an RN, a BSN degree is required or enrollment in a BSN program within 12 months of hire date with BSN

degree completed within 4 years of hire date is required.

For Registered Nurses with more than 5 years of work experience as an RN in an acute/inpatient capacity, a BSN degree is not required.

For current Geisinger Registered Nurses who transfer into this position, BSN degree is preferred.

 

Pennsylvania Registered Nurse license in good standing required.

 

BLS certification preferred.

 

Critical Care Experience preferred

 

Duration of on-the-job training to become familiar with job duties varies with individual department.
