If you are a detail-oriented Advanced Practitioner with Hematology/Oncology experience able to function in changing environment and dedicated to premiere patient care, we are interested in having you join our team at the Geisinger Cancer Institute. As part of our team, you will have the opportunity to make a difference working with the hematology/oncology patient populations.
Our Hematology/Oncology team at the Cancer Centers in Hazleton and Pottsville is comprised of one advanced practitioner and three physicians. The Geisinger Cancer Institute uses leading-edge technology to diagnose and treat cancer. Geisinger’s extraordinary multi-disciplinary team brings a comprehensive slate of services to the region through specialized clinics that offer patients advanced diagnostic and treatment opportunities at a single location.
Job functions include, but are not limited to:
- Assesses and manages symptoms and side effects of medication; adverse reactions to medications and pain management.
-Makes complete entries in the electronic medical record, writes orders, writes prescriptions and records progress notes.
-Participates in patient education and counseling to patients or guardians regarding the medical oncology / hematology treatment, diagnostic procedures and surgeries.
-Communicates with referring physicians to keep them informed of patient's progress and ongoing care needs.
The successful Nurse Practitioner candidate will work in collaboration with the physician and have a certificate of completion from an approved program for Nurse Practitioners, be eligible for or hold current national certification as a Family or Adult Nurse Practitioner and must be eligible for licensure by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.
The successful Physician Assistant candidate will work under the responsibility and supervision of the physician and require completion of an ARC-PA approved physician assistant program, NCCPA certification or eligibility, and Pennsylvania State licensure.
Experience in hematology/oncology preferable.
Must obtain and maintain BLS.
