This position coordinates orientation and education programs for nursing staff in coordination with clinical staff, position influences quality patient care, promotes interdepartmental teamwork, enhances staff development, and participates in retention and recruitment activities. This position operationalizes adult learning theory in evaluating educational needs of the nursing staff, developing and teaching educational programs and in-services, position maintains effective relationships with staff, peers, preceptors and nursing directors to effectively promote staff education.
Special Skills: Excellent communication skills and significant experience in developing, teaching and coordinating educational programs for adult learners. This position also requires strong organization, communication, and group interaction and presentation skills. The ability to take the initiative, to problem solve and to improve processes required. Coordinates and provides department-specific orientation for newly hired nursing and clinical staff.
Conducts learning needs assessment, facilitates practice and process changes in assigned area of expertise.
Evaluates competency and identifies team or individual caregiver performance gaps.
Designs learning experiences and action plans to assist those unable to meet competency.
Researches best practice in order to promote evidence-based nursing practice.
Maintains professional knowledge of clinical focus area, current research, and effective educational strategies.
Assesses patient satisfaction, patient quality indicators and evaluates education effectiveness.
Assures training and competency are documented using standard tools and systems.
Minimum Qualifications: Nursing Degree from an Accredited Nursing School. 3 yrs in acute care facility. Current Registered Nurse License in the State of Arizona.
Preferred Qualifications: MSN. Education coordinator/instructor in healthcare environment.
