Administers anesthetic care for the purpose of facilitating diagnostic, therapeutic and surgical procedures.
Performs and documents a pre-anesthetic assessment and evaluation of the patient. Develops and implements an anesthetic plan of care, including monitoring modalities and post-anesthesia follow-up evaluation and care. Selects, obtains and administers the anesthetic plan of care, including induction, maintenance and emergence phase anesthesia. Recognizes alterations in physiologic responses to the surgical procedure and/or the anesthetic, takes appropriate action and notifies the responsible physician as indicated. Orders additional tests, medications and IV fluids as needed. Participates in emergency airway management problems. Administers pain relief for labor and delivery. Participates in hospital Performance Improvement activities.
Qualifications: LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION: Required: Valid current Arizona Nursing License or compact state license and ability to become Arizona Licensed in 30 days. Required: Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), PALS). Required: Certification by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists.
EDUCATION: Required: Graduation from an accredited School of anesthesia approved by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists.
