The Supervisor of Social Work is responsible to the direct the overall operation of the Social Work Division of the Case Management Department in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations. The focus is to assist each patient and family in adjusting to placement, illness, and plan of care to attain the highest practicable level of functioning. The Supervisor of Social Work collaborates with the case management team in planning and implementing social work/case management programs for patients who are inpatient, in clinics, and in the Emergency Room, preadmission to post-discharge. Care is coordinated with all members of the health care team to ensure that patient care is optimized and goals of care achieved within an appropriate time frame and with maximum efficiency in resource utilization. When necessary the Supervisor will take on complex patients and help execute a safe discharge plan. The supervisor coordinates and directs social work activities including budget recommendations, forecasting, recommendations for staff and space, outcome measurement and process improvement. The Supervisor hires, orients, evaluates and disciplines staff and provides supervision of social work functions to include LOS and variance management, assuring all activities conform to professional standards, hospital policy and guidelines, external agency requirements and are consistent with the mission of the hospital.

Master of Social Work Degree.
LCSW preferred with a minimum of 5 years of social work experience in a hospital setting with previous supervisory experience.
Successful Completion of Saint Barnabas Medical Center Orientation Programs.
