Nemours is seeking a Diagnostic Cardiology Technician , FULL-TIME to join our Nemours Children's Hospital team.
Located in Orlando, Fla., Nemours Children’s Hospital is the newest addition to the Nemours integrated healthcare system. Our 100-bed pediatric hospital also features the area’s only 24-hour Emergency Department designed just for kids as well as outpatient pediatric clinics including several specialties previously unavailable in the region. A hospital designed by families for families, Nemours Children’s Hospital blends the healing power of nature with the latest in healthcare innovation to deliver world-class care to the children of Central Florida and beyond. In keeping with our goal of bringing Nemours care into the communities we serve, we also provide specialty outpatient care in several clinics located throughout the region
The Diagnostic Cardiology Specialist (DCS) position encompasses and performs the 4 main areas of diagnostic testing within the Cardiovascular Services line. These include the following:
Holter devices: 24hr, 48hr, and 7 day, reading and interpretation with 80% accuracy by review
EKG services and interpretation. Cardiac device management: Pacemakers, lifevest, etc.
Standard treadmill stress testing as well as utilizing the metabolic cart, spirometer, 12 lead ECG, blood pressure cuff and pulse oximeter to assess functional capacity.
Reports monthly volumes, missed opportunities, missing or failed studies
Additional miscellaneous duties and responsibilities, as may be assigned from time to time by employee’s supervisor.
Ability to independently and with sound professional judgement select and perform the appropriate cardiac stress test for the age, physical condition and diagnostic outcome for each individual patient and perform the test safely using standard stress protocols and standing pharmacological orders for selected test.
Thorough knowledge of AHA, AMA and JACC stress testing protocols required.
Ability to recognize any adverse reaction up to and including chest pain, shortness of breath, cardiac arrest, consecutive EKG changes, anaphylactic reaction, hypo or hypertensive events and anxiety towards testing with the ability to react and treat each situation.
Perform 12-lead EKG with basic interpretation and recognize active EKG changes.
Perform aseptic IV access with the use of appropriate catheter size.
Ability to reach and interpret a two through six channel continuous holter recording
Ability to remotely download and prepare Cardiac Device reports
Ability to document all procedures or studies performed in the appropriate EMR
Travel to outlying satellites
Graduate of an allied health program ie: RN, LPN, Accredited Paramedic program, Medical Assistant or Armed Services health program (Corpsman or Medic equivalent) required
2-5 Years as a CCT-R (Certified Cardiographic Technician- Registered) - preferred; 3-5 years in active cardiology clinic preferred 2-5 Years as an Emergency paramedic, Corpsman/Medic or MA-C Preferred, New graduate on a reviewed basis
Certified Cardiographic Technician- Registered within one year of hire
American Heart Association ACLS and BLS required upon hire
